For today’s weed news we go to the great nation of Canada.

While most medical cannabis research is still focused on THC and CBD, some scientists in Canada have started looking into less known compounds found within cannabis, and have found some of them to be quiet effective in reducing inflammation.

As a matter of fact, two specific flavonoids called cannaflavin A and cannaflavin B were just discovered to have almost 30 times more anti-inflammatory effects compared to aspirin, which is one of today’s most popular NSAIDs or non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and aspirin and them.

“There’s clearly a need to develop alternatives for relief of acute and chronic pain that go beyond opioids, these molecules (flavonoids) are non-psychoactive and they target the inflammation at the source making them ideal painkillers. What was interesting about the molecules in cannabis is that they actually stop inflammation at the source… And most natural products don’t have the toxicity that’s associated with over-the-counter pain relief drugs, which, even though they’re very effective, do come with health risks. So looking at natural products as an alternative is a very attractive model, wrote Tariq Akhtar PhD, one of the study’s co-authors.

The results of Tariq Akhtar PhD and his collegues’ research at the University of Guelph have already been published in the Journal of Phytochemistry and similar results have also been suggested by other studies going back over a decade.

Maybe now that we have an obvious cannabis Renaissance happening virtually worldwide, studies like this will speed up the process of unlocking the countless medical benefits that cannabis can provide the world.

Since we’re starting to understand that natural cannabis-based alternatives to the drugs we know today already exist, then why the hell are we more interested in using them?
